BIG NEWS – We will be adding regular Wednesday hours beginning Wednesday, March 3rd. We will be open from 5:00 – 10:00 on Wednesdays (later if needed :) ) Wednesdays will also be special because, beginning on the 3rd we will be partnering with World Tavern Trivia (http://www.worldtaverntrivia.com) to offer a great trivia season to our customers.  The last part of this newsletter give a little detail on the trivia.  In addition, on Wednesday, March 17th, we’ll be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at the bar in a BIG way complete with dinner including Corned Beef & Cabbage and Roasted Potatoes as well as other “green” specials.

And, we want to thank all of you who have brought in non-perishable foods for the Mebane area community Loaves & Fishes.  We will continue to collect items at the bar to donate to Mebane’s less fortunate.  Help us help Mebane!

For the trivia, you can get all the details from the World Tavern Trivia website  (Click here for the How to Page) and we will have information at the bar very soon, but here is a little snapshot in advance:

Bar trivia has been around for years, but finally there is a game for the rest of us.  A bar trivia game where you don’t need a PHD to compete.  A bar trivia game that is fun, exciting and over the edge hilarious!

1.  What year was the printing press invented?  WHO CARES?

2.  On Saturday Night Live, what type of liquor does “The Ladies Man” drink? I CARE (and it’s Courvoisier)

That’s World Tavern Trivia…It’s about the fun!

World Tavern Trivia is a National Team Trivia League held in bars and restaurants where your Team is having fun and having the chance to move on to the Tavern and National Championships where your Team can even win $5,000 in cold hard cash!

Your Team – You can create your Team.  Once you choose a Team Name you can add players to your roster, upload a photo and even write a little bio about your team.

How to Play – Each week, your local tavern will host World Tavern Trivia Game.  Each game consists of 6 rounds of 10 questions each. There are 12 categories from which the questions will be drawn from.

At the start of each round your Team will be given an answer sheet on which to write down your answers.  You will have approximately 1 minute to answer each question.  At the end of the round you will hand in your answer sheet and take a break while The Big Brain (your Trivia Host) will correct each team’s sheets.

For each question your Team gets correct, you will receive Brain Cells (points).   During the first 5 rounds each question is worth 10 Brain Cells.  For the Final Round (round 6) each question is worth 20 Brain Cells.

World Tavern Trivia Challenges – There are also World Tavern Trivia Challenges during Round 3 and the Final Round that add even more excitement.  A World Tavern Challenge might be a Photo Gallery during which your Team must correctly identify each photo.  Or maybe 10 scrambled words about Drinking that you need to unscramble.  Or maybe your Team will be challenged to name the Top 10 $ Grossing Actors of all time!

At the end of the night, the team with the most Brain Cells is declared the winner and will receive prizes provided by your tavern.

PLUS, The Top 3 Teams at each game get Bonus Brain Cells towards your Tavern and National Rankings.

* 1st Place = 100 Bonus Brain Cells

* 2nd Place = 60 Bonus Brain Cells

* 3rd Place = 40 Bonus Brain Cells

Tavern Championships

Every 17 weeks or so, your Tavern will hold their Tavern Championship where the Top Teams will be invited back to play for even bigger prizes provided by the Tavern, your Tavern Championship Plaque and a seat in the National Championships!

National Championships

Once each year, the Tavern Champions and the number one ranked team at the end of each season will have the chance to compete for the National Championship with great prizes including $10,000 in cash!

Mama’s Black Sheep returns & specials for Jan 14th – 16th

January 11th, 2010

Dick & Jane’s is excited to welcome Mama’s Black Sheep back to the bar on Saturday night, January 16th.
(There will be a five dollar cover)
If you’ve seen them perform, we know we’ll see you back.  If you haven’t yet, don’t miss this cance!  Mama’s Black Sheep is a power pop duo full of life, love, fun, & energy.  This musical collision of singer-songwriters Ashland Miller (guitar/vocals) & Laura Cerulli (drums/vocals) effortlessly erases boundaries between the genres of pop, rock, country, & blues creating an atmosphere of hand-clappin, foot-stompin congregational good times.  With a casual demeanor onstage, these ladies will make you feel like you’ve known them and their music for years, and perhaps you have, as they are both veterans of the singer-songwriter circuit.  They will make you laugh, cry, and sometimes even watch in disbelief wondering how two musicians can create a sound rich enough to make you think you’re listening to a full band.
See you Saturday!
